Hello current and future friends! Do you want to know a little of my journey and how I got where I am? Let me tell you my story…
I’m a dreamer, a hopeless romantic, a lover, a fighter, and a perfectionist. As a child, I loved the bedtime stories my mother told and would often tell myself stories after she’d left the room. I daydreamed in class instead of doing my work. (Sorry, Mrs. Spicer!) I filled my backyard with imaginary horses when my parents said I couldn’t have one in our suburban home. I had plenty of imagination, but I didn’t write anything down until I experienced — what my young mind considered — a travesty.
It all begin with a classic coming of age tale. I won’t share which tale, because, honestly, I’m a little embarrassed of my younger self’s audacity. My mother gave me this book, and I adored it. Until the very end. The main character had a crush throughout the whole story, and I couldn’t wait to see how they finally got together. Only…. They didn’t. I was outraged and heartbroken for the character. She deserved love, and someone needed to give it to her. So I took matters into my own hands and rewrote the ending of the story.
I became addicted to creating my own worlds, characters and happily-ever-after endings.
As an adult, I shared my stories with professionals and researched how to publish my works. I was pleased to hear positive feedback on my writing but discouraged when the same professionals said they weren’t publishing the kind of stories I’d written. Then, self-publishing exploded. With the hope that I wasn’t the only person in the world who liked the kinds of stories I wrote, I shared them with the world and was pleasantly surprised to find I wasn’t alone.
Today, I’m a wife and mom, a daughter, sister and friend, and a cat mom to the sweetest kitty. From my little corner of Texas, I still daydream and share what I imagine with the world. And I’m completely grateful you’ve joined this journey with me!
