In order to learn and grow, you have to step outside your comfort zone. At least, that’s what people tell me.
Staying Current
It’s easy for a writer to live in a bubble. To stay in their homes, write about the world, and never actually enter the world. Especially if they are introverted.
But no matter how fun that might be for me, I write stories for real people in the real world. Which means I have to connect with them. To let them know that I and my stories exist.
I need to know where people are, and I need to be there, too.
TikTok Famous?
One way I’m trying to stay current is by exploring “new” social media. Or at least new to me.
I’ve heard of several authors who are sharing their books and writing journeys through TikTok, and as much as that scares me, I need to try it.
Putting myself on video is a challenge. I don’t want to be judged by others or told that I’m unworthy, and being on social media can open you up to others’ opinions. But I feel I need to do it.
Maybe it will fail, maybe it will succeed. I won’t know until I try. So be on the lookout for @jleighjamesauthor on TikTok.
